Meeting: Zenka-Dieng: Montenegro is recognized in the Western Ballkans as a country where human rights issue is high on its political agenda Minister for Human and Minority Rights Mehmed Zenka has spoken earlier today with the UN Under Secretary and the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide, Adama Dieng. Zenka emphasised that Montenegro is recognized in the Western Ballkans as a country where the Human Rights issues stand high on its political agenda and in that direction our country has achieved visible results.

Podgorica, Montenegro (22 January 2018) -- National report on the state of human rights in Montenegro was presented earlier today before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, within the third cycle of the General Periodic Review of the Human Rights in the UN member states.Presenting the report, head of the Montenegrin delegation, Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin pointed out that comprehensive national reforms, which resulted in a high level of protection and affirmation of human rights and freedoms, were the best recommendations to Montenegro for achieving key foreign policy goals, namely NATO accession and progress towards EU membership.
